say hello to my little friend..

I found a lovely tutorial I wanted to share with all of you, it is for this adorable little bear you can sculpt for your babies!

Isn’t he adorable? You can also add fur afterwards by flocking it- but that takes time.

The tutorial itself is sculpted out of cold porcelain, a type of air dry clay you can make at home. Its a mixture of cold cream, elmers glue and flour. Kids love it! You can dye it with acrylic paints, it dries transluscent, but shrinks about 20%.

Of course you can sculpt the bear using polymer clays as well!!

Take a look at her other tutorials including flowers, roses, and a panda magnet as well as a recipe for making your own cold porcelain!

Don’t say I don’t spoil you!

Her tutorials are here. Have fun!!

feeties and fingers

That’s what my little one calls his feet. Feeties. Too cute!!

I have had quite a few people ask how I sculpt little baby feet. I usually shape the size of the feet, cut out the toes and round them by using my clay shapers or another soft tipped tool. It does take some adding and subtracting of clay in certain places to make the little feet look realistic!!

If you would like a tutorial example, my favorite is On deb wood’s website. Although the tute is for adult feet, it can be applied for baby feet. Just take a look at some baby photos for reference and guidance!

Deb’s tute shows you how to make these feet:

Pretty realistic no?

Her tutorial can be found here.

She also has tutes to make feather fairy wings, And a tutorial on sculpting hands!!

Enjoy!

beginnings

The other day I was at Barnes and Nobles and found an Anne Geddes book “Beginnings” for a bargain price of $14.95. Keep in mind this is a hardback, gorgeous book that used to cost upwards of $50.00!!!

Luckily, being the eternal spendthrift, I checked the price on Amazon before my purchase; and to my amazement- the book cost me $3.95 SHIPPED!!!

It is a beautiful book of newborn babies in gorgeous nature props and it is awe inspiring. Looking for inspiration for your next newborn sculpt? You can buy it for less than $5.00 on Amazon!! Worth it just to browse everytime you need a reference of baby poses, squishy new baby faces, and wrinkly baby fingers and toes…

Book is called Beginnings by Anne Geddes. Thought I would share in case some of you out there love babies as much as I do. 😉

In dolly news, hopefully soon I will have some exciting news to share!

Baby girl- preview!

I couldn’t wait to take a photo of this little girl. She is pretty cute! Still waiting for my photog of a husband to clear up his schedule for a decent photo shoot… Ahem…

Anyhow, heres a sneak peek… she is still unnamed with her little bunny lovey. Any ideas for her name?

She is facing the window so it looks as though her lips are sideways but it’s not. 🙂

She will be on ebay soon.

She has barely there eyebrows, barely there newborn hair baked in, and five layers of coloring including teeny little veins and capillaries followed by a 3D skin finish. She has glossed lips and teeny tongue as well as little glossed fingernails and toes. A bit of gloss on her eyes for the sleepy newborn look. 🙂

monkeying around

I have a baby finished!!! Doing the happy dance!! Now waiting for husbear to take some photos of her. She is pretty cute if I do say so myself!!

On other news, I just got an email letting me know that I missed out on giving out a link for a free cute monkey sculpting tutorial… So.. Here you go.

Pretty amazing realistic monkey eh? She also shows how she makes the armature for her monkeys as well as arms and legs. While you are there make sure to check out her armature tutorial for how she makes her armatures for her babies. Also, she has some free links to other tutorials as well!!
